Mater Academy's Jinah Mickens-Malike wins 800-meter run

Mater Academy’s seventh-grade student Jinah Mickens-Malik won the state championship in the 800 meters last week in Bradenton, Florida. Her feat is considered “amazing” by coaches, teachers and her peers since she beat high-school students to give her school the state championship. “What an accomplishment for a 7th grader to win this competition,” said her teacher Ivette Raul Amador. “What an honor to be her teacher, she’s not only gifted on the track but also in the classroom.”
