Miami-Dade police recognized Town of Miami Lakes Detective Myriam Nieves last month for her investigations that helped nab several suspects including one involved in auto fraud.

Nieves was acknowledged for her dedication to duty and sustained investigative practices and community good will exhibited during the period of January through March of 2016.

Her probe helped identify several vehicle burglars via surveillance and forensic evidence, which resulted in the closure of numerous vehicle burglaries in Miami Lakes, the Midwest District and Hialeah Gardens.

During that time period, Nieves conducted a fraud investigation, which involved the fraudulent sale of a vehicle belonging to an elderly female to CarMax.

Nieves was able to arrest the suspect and worked with CarMax to return the vehicle to the victim.
“Detective Nieves is a true professional and dedicated to serving the residents of the Town of Miami Lakes,” said Miami Lakes Town Commander Major George Perez.

“Congratulations to Detective Nieves for a job well done.”
