Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office seeks feedback on its performance

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has a contract to protect the Town of Miami Lakes and its people and property and has a small station inside of Town Hall.

Miami Lakes budgeted $11.8 million for the sheriff’s contract in the 2025-2026 fiscal year, a bill that was more than 51.8% of the town’s general fund budget, and is higher than the $10.8 million raised in town property taxes, staff said.

The agency is conducting a brief, confidential community survey to understand residents’ priorities for public safety and law enforcement services, as well as their awareness of the agency’s presence and its duties.

The sheriff’s office said responses will help develop its plans, improve service and support accreditation and accountability standards.

“The sheriff is really looking forward to hearing from our community on how we’re providing our services or any improvements that can be made,” said Det. Joseph Peguero, a spokesman in Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz’s office. “This is the first time we’re doing something like this.”

Responses will be accepted until May 22. It takes less than 10 minutes to complete and can be found at TinyUrl.com/bddav97u
