The Miami Lakes Athletic Club will hold special events in October to raise money for the Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative and to raise awareness and remind women to get annual mammograms.
Club employees will wear pink T-shirts during the month.
There will be pink T-shirts, hair ties, bandanas and other accessories for sale.
A series of classes will be offered, when instructors and members, some of whom have survived the disease, will wear pink:
Oct. 4 10 a.m. Pump it Up! With Maria, a weight class.
Oct. 9 9 a.m. Zumba with Georgina (music, drinks and food will be served).
Oct. 9 Club members and employees can register for exams on the Florida Mobile Mammography bus.
Oct. 14 9 a.m. Spinning with Cathy.
Oct. 20 11:30 a.m. Yoga with Paula.
Oct. 23 4:30 p.m. Barrelates with Andrea (combo core and ballet barre exercises; music, drinks and food will be served).
Oct. 29 11 a.m. Zumba with Manny.
A pickleball tournament is planned, on a date to be announced.
