Miami Lakes AutoMall won unanimous site plan approval from the town council to expand and renovate a showroom.

Two buildings will be demolished during construction.

“We have two buildings in the middle of our property…what we’re doing is actually replacing the two-and-a half buildings with three nice, beautiful showrooms,” Miami Lakes AutoMall Partner Fred Senra said.

The new structure will have a modern, two-story glass design with 71,620 square feet, 51,000 more square feet than before.

The enlarged sales floors will enable the company to continue selling Kia and Mitsubishi vehicles.

Also planned are 561 parking spaces and sidewalks.

Senra said eight electric vehicle chargers will be installed and available for the public to use.

A preliminary estimate is that the project at 16600 NW 57th Ave. may generate $1,879,240 in police, fire, road and mobility impact fees, according to a town staff report.

Impact fees help counties and towns pay for increased demand upon those services after development.

Senra appeared before the council on Sept. 12 to present the plans for the 36-year-old business.

It anchors the southwest corner of Northwest 57th Avenue at Northwest 167th Street.

The dealership also sells the Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Chrysler and Chevrolet brands.

The overall footprint of the nearly 12-acre dealership will remain the same.

“We’re improving the look of the property, to put it simply,” Senra said.

In 2021, the company built a five-story garage on Northwest 59th Avenue to house its inventory.

Councilman Ray Garcia was a supporter of the project.

“I think it’s going to be a great improvement, especially as it’s right off the Palmetto [Expressway], very visible,” Garcia said during the council meeting. “Thank you, Fred, for continuing to invest in the town.”

A variance or a change in zoning law was not required for the project.
