Miami Lakes Branch Library announced the following programs are available for the public during December:
For Children and Families:
Reading Ready Toddler Storytime - Stories, songs and activities for toddlers and their care givers at 11 a.m. on Thursdays, December 4, 11 and 18.
Family Holiday Extravaganza – Trixie the Holiday Pixie, one of the North Pole’s Elves, will spread Holiday Cheer and see that everyone is Nice, not Naughty, with holiday stories and magic at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 20. The event continues at 4:15 p.m. with Holiday Balloon Art by the artists from Balloon Experts. Both activities are made possible by the Town of Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board
Paws to Read – Certified therapy dogs listen to children read aloud which can help with their reading skills, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 13.
Saturday Matinee at the Library – Miami Lakes Branch presents the movie “Frozen,” a family friendly film at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 13.
Holiday Caroling – Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High Chorus presents a Holiday Carol Concert for the entire family at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17.
For Teens:
Teen Club presents Hour of Code – Join the global movement and sign up for a one-hour coding session to learn the basics of computer programming. Made possible by the Miami Dolphins Foundation. Meets at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 6.
Tween Book Club – A children’s book club for ages 8-12 that meets once a month to discuss the chosen book. This month is “The Last Holiday Concert” by Andrew Clements. Registration is required. Meets at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 20.
For Adults:
Book Discussion Group – This month’s title is “Don’t Sing at the Table” by Adriana Trigiani. Meets are 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16.
Commissioner Esteban Bovo’s Mobile Office Community Outreach – An opportunity for the community to speak with the Commissioner and/or his representative. Meets at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 8.
Miami Lakes Branch Library is located at 6699 Windmill Gate Road and is open Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., and Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The branch is closed on Sundays. For more information, call 305-822-6520.
