Miami Lakes Branch Library announced the following programs are available for the public during August:
For Children and Families:
Saturday Matinee at the Library – Miami Lakes Branch presents family friendly films. Movie is “Dolphin Tale” at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 8.
For Teens:
Tween Book Club – A children’s book club for ages 8-12 that meets once a month to discuss the chosen book. This month’s title is “Spy School” by Stuart Gibbs. Meets at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 29.
Teen Club - Teens meet to play video games, watch anime, draw or discuss books at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, August 11 and 25.
For Adults:
Go Club of Miami Lakes – Has chess lost its thrill for you? Come try “Go,” a thought-provoking strategy game from ancient Japan. Meets from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, August 8,15, 22 and 29.
Escape the Ordinary with Extraordinary Films – Plan an adult night out and watch “Hercules” at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 10.
Escape the Ordinary with Arts and Crafts - Make extraordinary art with ordinary materials. Registration required for ages 18 years and up at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 17.
Book Discussion Group - This month’s title is “Thunderstruck” by Erik Larson at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18.
Commissioner Esteban Bovo Jr.’s Community Outreach – An opportunity for the community to speak with the Commissioner and/or his representative from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, August 10.
Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart's Outreach - A member of Rep. Diaz Balart's staff will visit the library to discuss federal issues or any problem with a constituent may have with a federal agency from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday August 26.
Miami Lakes Branch Library is located at 6699 Windmill Gate Road and is open Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., and Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The branch is closed on Sundays. For more information, call 305-822-6520.
