Miami Lakes Branch Library announced the following programs are available for the public during March:
For Children and Families:
Read the Book, Watch the Movie – Share in stories and enjoy the book based films. Event is sponsored by the Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, March 16, 23 and 30.
Reading Ready Toddler Storytime – Stories, songs and activities for toddlers and their caregivers. For ages 18 months to 3 years old at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays, March 16, 23 and 30.
Baby and Me Group - Free 10-week session providing parents an opportunity to develop close relationships with their infants while learning about infant development. For parents and their children that are 0-6 months. Registration required. Call 305-243-8425 or e-mail familiesfirst@miami.edu for information and registration. Meets at 10:30 a.m. on Thursdays, March 24 and 31.
Spring Break STEAM Zone: 3D Printing - Learn how to design objects that can be replicated on the newest printing technologies. The most complete design will be printed at the end of the session. Space is limited. Contact the branch for registration information. For ages 8-12 from 1 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22.
For Teens:
Teen Club - Teens meet to play video games, draw, watch anime, or discuss books at 5:30 p.m.
Spring Smash Brawl - Bring your own game cube controller or use one of the library’s. Winners will move on to the final rounds at the Main Library on Saturday, May 21. Call 305-822-6520 to register. For ages 12-19 years old at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29.
For Adults:
Celebrate 10th anniversary of the Cleveland Orchestra Miami – Musicians of the Cleveland Orchestra will perform a variety of styles and types of musical works, playing in duos, trios, quartets, and more. The free performances are offered as part of Cleveland Orchestra Miami’s mission to share the joy of music with Miami-Dade audiences, and as a musical thank you for the public’s support and interest in the Orchestra. The program is from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 19.
Go Club of Miami Lakes – Now everyone can embark on a journey and uncover the ancient game of strategy, attack and defense, the Game of Go. Meets from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, March 19 and 26.
USCIS Information Table - U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service staff will provide information, materials, and answer general questions regarding the citizenship process from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 28.
Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Community Outreach – A member of his staff will be on hand to discuss federal issues or any problem a constituent may have with a federal agency at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23.
Miami Lakes Branch Library is located at 6699 Windmill Gate Road and is open Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., and Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The branch is closed on Sundays. For more information, call 305-822-6520.
