The oldest church in Miami Lakes is sponsoring a Community Health Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 17.
Miami Lakes Congregational Church is continuing its 51-year commitment to reach out into the Miami Lakes and Hialeah areas in hosting the Health Fair to bring together faith, civic and health care leaders in a way to full a common goal – to connect service and need.
The church’s goals are (1) to offer available health-related resources, and (2) offering many health care providers an opportunity to present their no fee and/or reduced fee health services to community residents.
Community health partners include Miami Dade College Medical Campus, Miami-Dade Fire Department, Palmetto General Hospital, Memorial Hospital, Leon Medical Center, Baptist Medical Plaza, Costco, Nutrition S’mart, Gerardo’s Marketplace, Main Street Dentistry, Dr. Manuel Capiro DDS, Vitas Health Care, Shula’s Athletic Club, The Chiropractic Center, Catholic Hospice, Universal Imaging and One Blood.
Screenings and services to be provided during the Health Fair include massage therapy, pet care demonstrations, dental health, respiratory care, blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, smoking cessation, nutrition information, vision care, fitness information, MRS and mammography resources, home health care, stroke prevention, and epilepsy evaluation.
The free event will be held on the campus of Miami Lakes Congregational Church, 6701 Miami Lakeway South, across from Miami Lakes K-8 Center. All families and individuals in the area are invited to attend.
