Town of Miami Lakes Landscape Superintendent Guillermo Salazar will be the guest speaker at the Miami Lakes Garden Club’s monthly membership meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 23, at Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue. The meeting is open to Garden Club members, their guests and local residents.
In addition to his municipal responsibilities, Salazar is a private landscape designer and consultant and adjunct faculty member for the Landscape Technology Department of Miami Dade College.
His work entails teaching people how to design a successful garden with the use of adequate plants and orchids to create a functional and environmentally conscious environment.
Salazar has a degree in Landscape Design and Management and received a Master’s in Science in Environmental Horticulture from the University of Florida.
His credential include ISA Certified Arborist, Certified Landscape Inspector and Certified Horticulturist.
Salazar’s specialty in orchids is Angraecoids, Bulbophyllums, and rare and miniature tropical species.
In his spare time, Salazar breeds pedigree Persian and Himalayan cats, enjoys gardening, and exploring tropical regions of the world.
