MLK-8 Center places third in district French competition

Miami Lakes K-8 Center placed third overall in the Secondary French Competition for the entire Miami-Dade School District. The school's seventh and eighth grade French II and III classes participated in the Foreign Language Teachers of Dade County Competition at Miami Coral Park Senior High. 

The Foreign Language Competition was open to all public middle and high school students in Foreign Language classes. Miami Lakes K-8 Center was well represented by the students who competed in all areas of competition. The students were accompanied by their parents and by their French teacher Pey-Guy Marra. 

Students individually placed in all categories and together they performed in a skit. Several students won first place for declamations including Kaleb Beharie, Julia Garcia, and Stephanie Barrios. Second place for declamations went to Daniela Rivas, Jessica Reyes, Jade Noa and Alexis Weintraub. 

For Impromptu Speech, students Ashley Pupo and Sahai Lacasse placed in second. Third place for the Collaborative Project went to group members Kristen Garcia, Victoria Archaga, Kallista Capdevilla and Gabriela Seferlis. The skit and drama piece also placed third in the competition. Skit participants included Sahai Lacasse, Victoria Archaga, Maxwell Johnson, Alain Sanchez Breton, Jade Noa, Alexis Weintraub, Jorge Nin, Melody Rodriguez, and Ashley Pupo. 

The number of students who placed helped the school place in third for overall winner in the Secondary French Competition for M-DCPS.
