Our Lady of the Lakes boys volleyball team finished their season clinching the 12th seed of the All Catholic Conference third annual Playoffs.
On October 17 at Belen Jesuit School, the Cheetahs advanced to the quarterfinals to play the number one seed, Immaculate Conception Celtics. With outstanding play by Adrian Vega, Brian Rodriguez, and Michael Gonzalez, they eliminated the Celtics in two sets by the score of 25-18, 25-20.
The Cheetahs then advanced to the semifinals to face St. Rose of Lima Cardinals. The Cheetahs took the first set, 25-23, with two serving aces by Michael Gonzalez. In the second set, the Cheetahs came out playing superb defense and a 17-14 lead. However, following some unforced errors, the Cardinals gained momentum and took set number two, 25-2, and eventually defeated the Cheetahs 15-12.
Despite being eliminated in the semifinals ,the Cheetahs tied for third overall and are the first OLL boys team to advance to the playoffs since 2013.
