Orange Bowl Committee elects board members

The Orange Bowl Committee has elected its board of directors and officers to serve for 2021 – 2022.

Newly-elected as at-large board members during the February membership meeting were Christine M. Barney and Albert de Cardenas.

Also, Timothy A. Battle; Xavier E. Gonzalez; Michael E. Moran and Don Slesnick III were re-elected as at-large members.

So was Suzanne Amaducci-Adams, who was an ex officio board member last year as chair of a team host committee, the organization announced on Feb. 12.

Re-elected to the board as a past president was Andrew P. Hertz. Sergio Abreu Jr. and Ronald Albert Jr. are ex officio members of the board as chairs of the team host committees.

The board then chose David R. Heffernan as secretary and Hector Tundidor Jr. as treasurer.

They join President and Chair John P. (Jack) Seiler, President and Chair-elect Frank Gonzalez, First Vice Chair Yvonne Turner Johnson, M.D., Second Vice Chair Bradley D. Houser, immediate past President and Chair Jeff E. Rubin and Chief Executive Officer Eric L. Poms as members of the executive committee of the board of directors, the committee said.

(Jack) Seiler; President and Chair-elect Frank Gonzalez; First Vice Chair Yvonne Turner Johnson, M.D.; Second Vice Chair Bradley D. Houser; Secretary David R. Heffernan; Treasurer Hector Tundidor Jr; immediate past President and Chair Jeff E. Rubin and Chief Executive Officer Eric L. Poms.

The Board of Directors are: Suzanne Amaducci-Adams; Christine M. Barney; Timothy A. Battle; Henri W. Crockett; Jose E. Cueto; Albert de Cardenas; Albert E. Dotson Jr; Xavier E. Gonzlez; Gerald Grant Jr; Andrew P. Hertz; Vicki H. Matthews; Michael E. Moran; Jeffrey T. Roberts; Don Slesnick III; Mario Trueba and Henry Viera. Ex Officio Committee Chair Board Members are Sergio Abreu Jr and Ronald Albert Jr.

The 86-year-old Orange Bowl Committee is head- quartered in Miami Lakes.

It is a non-profit organization that promotes sports and tourism. Its 380 mostly volunteer members serve the South Florida community through youth sports programs and scholarships.

The committee’s annual highlight event is the Orange Bowl college football playoff semi-final game.
