On November 8, residents of North Miami-Dade will vote for a U.S. Senator, county mayor, a state representative and state senator and several judicial candidates during the most anticipated presidential election in U.S. history.
Republican U.S. Senator Marco Rubio will face off against former Congressman Patrick Murphy, a Democrat, to represent Florida residents in the Nation’s Capitol.
Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez is facing former Miami-Dade County School Board member Raquel Regalado, who’s seeking to unseat the two-term mayor and follow in her father’s footsteps.
Regalado is the daughter of Miami City Mayor Tomas Regalado.
State Representative Manny Diaz Jr., a Republican and school administrator, is being challenged by criminal defense attorney and Democrat Ivette Gonzalez Petkovich for District 103, which represents Miami Lakes, Hialeah and other surrounding communities.
Miami Springs Democrat Anabella Grohoski Peralta is seeking to defeat Republican State Senator and hospital administrator Rene Garcia in District 36, which also represents the cities of Hialeah and Miami Lakes, Miami Springs and surrounding unincorporated areas.
For the judicial races, attorneys Mark Blumstein and Rene Gordon are in a run-off, seeking to fill the seat left vacant by the retirement of Judge Gill Freeman.
Attorney Carol “Jodie” Breece, and Oscar Rodiguez-Fonts, former assistant attorney for the City of Miami and a public defender, are also in a run-off.
