Our Neighborhoods Lake Adele

Community By Megan Jacobo, Reporter Thursday, March 4, 2021

History

Lake Adele is a community of 52 single-family homes in the middle of Miami Lakes.

The Sengra Corporation (which later became The Graham Companies) developed the neighborhood between 1967 and 1968.

The community is not gated and is bordered by Leaning Pine Drive, Bamboo Street, Cypress Court and Miami Lakeway South.

The lake is named after Adele Graham, wife of the former Fla. Governor and U.S. Senator Bob Graham.

“I was honored to join other members of the Graham family to have a lake named in their honor,” Adele Graham said. “It is a beautiful lake.”

“I believe it is the smallest of the Miami Lakes collection of lakes, but [town developer] Bill Graham was delighted to tell me that it is the ‘most interesting.’

“That was a meaningful comment that I will always remember,” she said. “What a beautiful and nice honor.”

Amenities

All homes sit along the lake’s edge; most have four bedrooms and three baths, with a one or two car garage.

There is a pocket park in the community for small children to play in.

The neighborhood is near the Cypress Village Shopping Center.

Miami Lakes K-8 Center is in walking distance.

Who lives there?

Residents are mostly older or retired folks and there are a few young families.

Bobbi Lou Ewart has lived in the neighborhood since 1974 with her husband Edwin Ewart.

He fell in love with the lake and decided to make Lake Adele their home.

“It’s a quiet community and everyone is very welcoming,” Bobbi Lou Ewart said. “The lake is gorgeous.”

Lynn Matos, a
Realtor with RE/MAX Unique Realty said, “Lake Adele is a sought after neighborhood with beautiful, lakefront lots and mature trees.”

What does it cost?

Each property owner pays a $100 annual fee for lake maintenance, according to Ewart.

The most recent sale happened last November, when a four bedroom, three bath home sold for $670,500, Matos said.
