Our Neighborhoods Lake Suzie

Community By David Snelling, Reporter Wednesday, February 17, 2021

History

Lake Suzie is in the heart of Miami Lakes, where 26 single-family homes were built along the water’s edge.

The Sengra Corporation (which later became The Graham Companies) developed the residential community between 1968 and 1972.

It was named for Sarah Suzie Luckey.

She was married to Sengra executive Floyd Luckey, who joined the company in 1960 and worked with the Graham family to develop the town from their dairy farm.

The community is east of the Palmetto Expressway, and bordered by Miami Lakeway South, Twin Sable Drive, Poinciana Court and Sable Drive.

Amenities

In addition to the lake, the community boasts a beach park and a tot-lot owned and maintained by the town, said Juan C. Fernandez, a Realtor for Keller Williams Realty Miami Lakes.

The homes are one and two stories and range from three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms to five bedrooms and three baths.

What does it cost?

Properties are currently valued at between $540,000 and $670,000, Fernandez said.

Fernandez said no homes were listed for sale in the community.

In the past five years just two homes have sold, both in 2020, Fernandez said.

Those were a three bedroom, two bath home at 7660 Miami Lakeway South for $660,000 and a three bedroom, 3.5 bath property at 7230 Miami Lakeway South which sold for $642,000, he said.

Who lives there?

Fernandez said residents include a mix of young and middle-aged people as well as retirees.

He said business executives, business owners, lawyers and Realtors all own homes in Lake Suzie.
