Monsignor Edward Pace High School student softball standout Sofia Dominguez won the 2016 Female Athlete of the Year at the Premios Copa Dorada Golden Cup Awards luncheon on April 3.
Premios Copa Dorada is a sports awards luncheon created to honor the top Hispanic athletes in Miami-Dade County, recognizing 70 athletic achievements of the best youth talent from the Hispanic community each year.
Dominguez, a senior, has recorded a 3.38 GPA and is, so far, putting up impressive statistics this season.
Playing three positions, pitcher, shortstop and third base, Dominguez has registered an 1.04 ERA, 137 strikeouts and 13 wins in 94 innings of work, according to Max Preps.
She also has a .186 OBA (her opponents batting average against her) and an .826 fielding percentage.
Dominguez was selected Player of the Game for her performance against top-ranked University on April 5.
Dominguez is undecided on what college she is planning on attending in the fall.
