Panama Mutiny wins bid to play in 2014 Elite World series at Disney

The Miami Lakes Optimist Panama Mutiny Elite won a bid to play in the popular 2014 Elite World Series scheduled for play at Walt Disney World.

The Mutiny Elite was among 19 teams that competed in the USSSA North Florida Dual Super Nit tournament in Gainesville and advanced to the World Series with a 6-0 record and the USSSA championship.

The Mutiny had early pool game wins against the Orlando Stingers (11-2) and Orlando’s top team Central Florida Wolverines (11-7).

The Mutiny started the elimination games against the Stealth National winning 8-5 on a walk off three run homer in extra innings.

In the following game, the Mutiny beat Tampa’s Florida Heat 10-2 where Mutiny’s pitchers stopped all chances the Florida Heat had.

From there, the Mutiny defeated Team Florida (9-1) in a 2-hit game, and Mutiny advanced to the championship game where they beat previously undefeated Tampa’s Spartans Pro 4-3 in extra innings.

The  next Dual Super Nit and one of the last chances to get to the Elite World Series will be in Vero Beach on April 4-6.
