Perla Hantman nominated for Urban Educator award

Miami-Dade Public School Board Chairwoman and Miami Lakes resident Perla Tabares Hantman last week was nominated as Urban Educator of the Year by the Council of the Great City Schools.

Each finalist is being recognized for outstanding contributions in improving urban education. 

Hantman was chosen as a finalist for the accolade for epitomizing leadership and characteristics that demonstrate her compassion, concern and commitment to students who attend public schools in Miami-Dade County.

The winners will be announced on October 8 during the Council of the Great City Schools’ 59th Annual Fall Conference in Long Beach, California. 

The Council of the Great City Schools is the nation’s voice for urban education in educating the nation’s most diverse student body to the highest academic standards and prepare students to contribute to the democracy and global community.
