As the first construction phase of the N.W. 87 Avenue project is finished, the second phase of the project has begun.
Complimenting the project from N.W. 154 Street to N.W. 181 Street, Miami-Dade County is constructing southbound lanes (west side) and the milling and resurfacing of N.W. 87 Avenue from N.W. 181 Street to 186 Street.
During the construction project, the N.W. 87 Avenue northbound left turn lane at the intersection of Miami Gardens Drive will be closed in order to convert it into a southbound lane to allow for the continuous flow of traffic.
However, left turns will still be allowed at the intersection.
Variable message boards have been installed alerting northbound traffic that an alternate detour is available along N.W. 178 Street to N.W. 82 Avenue to turn left on to Miami Gardens Drive.
A traffic engineer will be monitoring the new traffic pattern and will make timing adjustments accordingly.
