In addition to Spanish Lakes Elementary School’s year round science program, over 300 hundred fifth grade students completed their in-depth Science Boot Camp. The camp consisted of two-hour round robin blocks of engaging science learning in order to gain a clearer understanding of science concepts.
In order to meet the higher science standards mandated by the State of Florida, the reinforcement and review of science strands were creatively incorporated into the motivational hands-on labs designed by fifth grade science teachers.
Areas included scientific thinking, animals, plants, matter, energy, and force and motion. The students were able to analyze and interpret data and experience meaningful application of concepts.
