Student contest at Town Hall on May 27 to demonstrate effects of blasting

The Miami Lakes Blasting Advisory Board is hosting a student award ceremony for projects that demonstrate the effects of seismic energy waves caused by lime rock mining.

Residents are invited to the contest to be held Wednesday, May 27 at Miami Lakes Town Hall. The event is to begin at 7 p.m., at 6601 Main St.

Competitors will each have two minutes to present their projects to the board, explain their models, their findings and overall concepts.

Cash prizes will be awarded: $500 for first place, $300 for second and $200 for third.

The evening is sponsored by United Dental Specialists.
