A surprise ceremony was held by the Miami-Dade County School for Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho after he was named 2014 National Superintendent of the Year at The School Superintendents Association (AASA) National Conference held in Nashville, Tennessee.
Through this recognition, Carvalho was honored for his many accomplishments and achievements as head of the fourth largest school district in the nation. Carvalho was chosen for this distinction amongst superintendents of 15,000 school districts nationwide.
At the ceremony, Carvalho was pleasantly surprised with a standing ovation by School Board Members, students, teachers and District staff.
