Town hosts toy drive for the Marine Corps Reserve's 'Toys for Tots'

Community Monday, November 24, 2014

In an initiative by Councilmember Tim Daubert, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Military Policeman, the Town of Miami Lakes will host a toy drive for the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots throughout November and part of December.

Residents are encouraged to bring unwrapped toys for children up to the age of 16 by Friday, December 12, to Town Hall, 6601 Main Street.

The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of  Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of the nation’s most valuable resources – children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.

Over the years, Marines have established close working relationships with social welfare agencies, churches and other local community agencies which are well qualified to identify needy children in the community, and play important roles in the distribution of the toys.
