Miami Lakes has been recognized for the past nine years as a Tree City USA Award recipient and was recently honored with a Growth Award as well.
The Arbor Day Foundation sponsors the Tree City USA Program in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.
According to the Foundation, “The residents of Miami Lakes should be proud to live in a community that makes the planting and care of trees a priority.”
The Tree City USA Growth Award is given to communities that go beyond the four standards of Tree City USA that demonstrate improvement and growth of local tree care.
“It is a great testament to the dedication of our residents, staff and Council that Miami Lakes has continued to exceed recognized community standards and gone above and beyond to ensure that the Miami Lakes brand of beautiful tree-lined streets remains in place,” said Mayor Michael Pizzi.
