Maria Luz Sanchez, Business Administrator and secretary, Mental Health Task Force, Miami Lakes

“Staying indoors,” Maria Luz Sanchez said. “If you walk like my husband and I, [we] moved our walk to the late afternoon. Keeping hydrated and carrying around [my] water bottle.”

Rosa Barroso,  Licensed mental health counselor/founder, The Therapy Labs and vice chair, Mental Health Task Force, South Miami

“I put tints on my car and use the auto start [for the a/c] and stay indoors and in the shade,” Rosa Barroso said.

Cristina Sanguily,  Co-owner, Acai Express, Miami Lakes

“I’m barely coping with [the heat], but acai bowls and smoothies help,” Cristina Sanguily said. “I have a huge advantage. Indoors I’m coping just fine, outdoors not so well. Ice water, I put ice in my water bottle and try [to keep cool]."

“Hydrating as much as possible and being inside,” Eleana Escobar said in Spanish.  “Being outside is impossibly hard. If there is anything I need to do, I go out after sundown.”
