Miami Lakes announced the new start date for the Start Smart Development Program. Over 100 children, ages 3 to 5 years, have participated in the sports development program over the past several years.

The proven instructional program prepares children for the world of organized sports without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Parents work together with their children in a supportive environment to learn all of the basic skills including throwing, catching, kicking and batting.

The 7-week course begins on Tuesday, January 7, and will be held every Tuesday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Royal Oaks Park, 16500 N.W. 87 Avenue. Registration is $14 per child for the seven sessions. Space is limited and registration is on a first come first served basis.

Registration is scheduled for Saturday, January 4, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Miami Lakes Optimist Park Marina, 6411 N.W. 162 Street. Parents or guardians must register in person by providing a copy of their child’s birth certificate and paying the registration fee by check.
