American Legion Post 144 of Miami Lakes celebrated Independence Day with a barbecue at Veterans Park.

The veterans always gather at the pavilion for July 4th to serve lunch to post members and their families; first responders and any veteran who stops by; active-duty soldiers and their families as well as town council members, town staff and the maintenance crew.
In the evening on the main stage, they present the colors, sing the national anthem and lead the Pledge of Allegiance before the fireworks begin.
