Religious Thursday, December 4, 2014

Miami Lakes United Methodist Church launched the first Winterfest in 2013 as a follow up to the popular Pumpkin Patch and proudly announced its return this winter.

From now through December 24, Winterfest will feature free daily admission, Christmas Tree sales, and scheduled activities throughout the holiday season. The church invites all members of the community to stroll through the wonderland full of lights and seasonal characters. Multiple photo opportunities will be available.

On Friday, December 5, live music will be playing for the Candy Cane Parade as doors open for a visit with Santa and his elves at 7 p.m. Santa's mailbox will be open for children to drop off their letters and a movie will be playing in the sanctuary at 7:30 p.m. Food will be available for purchase.

The following Friday, December 12, a Bethlehem Bash will take place with a Nativity play featuring the church's school children at 7 p.m. A bonfire will also take place along with s'mores, popcorn, hot chocolate, food and drinks for purchase.

The last Saturday before Christmas, December 20, the church's choir is joining with Palm Springs United Methodist Church to present “Canticles in Candlelight, A Cantata for Christmas” by Joseph M. Martin. There will be two performances, one at 4 p.m. at Epworth Village and 7 p.m. at Miami Lakes United Methodist Church.
