The Northpointe YMCA located at 7351 N.W. 186 Street, is hosting the annual Healthy Kids Day on April 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event, a YMCA national initiative to improve the health and wellbeing of families across the country, includes free interactive activities, sports clinics, health screenings, family fitness fun, nutrition education, water safety and the opportunity to sign up for summer camps and programs.
The first HKD was held in 1992, free and open to the public, and became the nation’s largest health day for kids and families. The day is designed to emphasize the importance of play in keeping kids healthy and happy. It also focuses on providing problem-solving skills, fostering creativity, and motor skills.
The event will also include a color run (so participants are encouraged to take a shirt they don’t mind getting dirty) and a demonstration from the fire department.
Business sponsorships are accepted at the center for willing participants.
