Miami Lakes resident and Bob Graham Education Center student, fourth grader, Ayden Abreu was inspired by a family trip to Washington D.C. As an aspiring artist, even taking art classes with art teacher, Gary Anuez, at Miami Lakes Educational Center, Abreu wrote a letter and created artwork for the President of the United States. Abreu was moved by the history of the capital and by the art his family saw.

President Obama responded in kind with a family photo and letter thanking Abreu for his letter and artwork.

“I was shocked,” said Abreu in regards to receiving a response from the president. “I thought it was a joke, but when I read it, it was real and I am honored that he took the time to respond. It made me feel special.”

In addition to spending time focused on art, Abreu is an honor roll student and learning to play the violin. He spends his free time with his parents, Vanessa and Esteban Abreu, and his brothers, Steven and Aaron.
