Spartans' baseball team at 14-8 on season and No. 1 seed in District playoffs

  The Miami Lakes Optimist Club will be holding registration for the 2015 basketball season, from 9:30 to noon, on consecutive Saturdays April 18 and 25, at Miami Lakes Middle School, 6425 Miami Lakeway North. Late registration and tryouts will be held on Saturday, May 2. Boys and girls players from ages 7 to 18 must bring a copy of their birth certificates and be fitted for their uniforms.   Over 200 runners and walkers enjoyed a recent morning at the historic Hialeah Racetrack during the Running with Danny 5K which raised nearly $10,000 that will be presented to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation during the Miami Lakes Great Strides Walk scheduled for Saturday, April 25, at Graham Park. Team Shula, comprised of Graham Companies employees, came in third out of 12 teams participating in a charity softball tournament on March 21 at Brian Piccolo Park to benefit the American Children’s Orchestras for Peace, Inc. the event raised over $11,000 for musical instruments.
