St. Thomas University (STU) was recently awarded a $3 million unrestricted gift from the Frank E. Murphy Foundation to be used to further new initiatives at the college.
“We are extremely grateful to receive this transformational gift,” said STU president David A. Armstrong “An unrestricted gift of this magnitude is an opportunity to move our university forward, accelerate our momentum and fuel our progress. The impact of this gift reaches across the university touching countless lives.”
During the first ten months of Armstrong’s presidency, the university launched a football and marching band program, began construction on the Gus Machado School of Business and started an Ethical Leadership Program.
Frank E. Murphy, CEO of University Housing Solutions (UHS), is a proponent of supporting education for those of all ages. He began his professional career as a high school teacher and later founded UHS in 2007. UHS is one of the premier developers of college and university residential facilities in the United States.
“We believe in president Armstrong and his ability to take STU into its next chapter of growth,” said Murphy. “We are very proud to support him, the faculty, staff and most importantly the students of STU.”
