Dr. Jose L. Dotres, superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, is stepping down when his contracts ends in February 2027, the district said.

In its efforts to find his replacement, the district is asking for public input on the qualities they want to see in the next leader of the country’s third largest school district.

It said in part, “... community feedback remains an important part of the process. Families, educators, students and residents are encouraged to participate in the Superintendent Community Input Survey and share the qualities they believe are important in the district’s next leader.”

Parents and guardians whose children attend public schools can access the survey by scanning the QR code below.

The goal is to “help ensure community voices remain part of shaping the future of our schools,” the district said.
