What’s happening on Main Street?

A wooden fence facing the circle on Main Street recently went up in front of the old Tamura Japanese Buffet, or, for longtime Miami Lakers, the former Tony Roma’s location.

Behind the fence, the facade will be renovated. Work will include splitting the space into two future restaurants that will measure 1,636 square feet and 3,504 square feet. The glass atriums on each side of the building will be removed.

The front of the new restaurant spaces will be pushed back to create outdoor seating, and storefront glass will wrap around the building.

The property, at 6842 Main St., is just west of Amazonia Nikkei Restaurant. It is being renovated by The Graham Companies, which owns the mixed-use development in the heart of downtown Miami Lakes.
The company placed signs out front that promise: “The excitement is building ... Please excuse our noise and dust while we renovate and update to serve you better! Psst: It’s going to be awesome!”
