Council recognizes contributions of longtime HML coach Uspensky

At the November 7 Town Council meeting, Hialeah-Miami Lakes High Schools former football coach and educator for 36 years, Michael Uspensky, was recognized for his accomplishments and support of the youth in the community.

During college, Uspensky was a part of the University Florida’s Gators football team. In 1971, he began his career in education at HML, where he was not only a Physical and Driver’s Education teacher and guidance counselor, but also the head football coach from 1978 to 1993.
Uspensky led HML to several state championships and won the district football championship in 1990.

More than 200 HML football graduates have gone on to play for several major colleges as well as the National Football League, including Don Bailey Jr., Michael Timpson, Devin Bush, Davin Bush, and Ryan Collins.
