Monsignor Pace High School students, alumni, and their families came together for last month’s Sixth Annual Spartan Fishing Tournament at La Siesta Resort in Islamorada. Guests, guides, and sponsors turned up for the tournament on August 22-23 on 30 boats and over 140 anglers.

Team Leung with Captain Jared Raskob took home the Inshore Division First Place trophy while Team Garcia and Florin with Captain James Chappell won the Offshore Division First Place trophy.

The fishing tournament raised money for the Pace Anglers Club and the Spartans-4-Spartans Program, which helps Pace families cover education expenses during times of extreme hardship.

The event was sponsored by Quality Aircraft Parts, Inc. Other major sponsors included marine artist David Wirth, Ray Dass Test Prep, and Scott Robins Companies.

“It was definitely our best year yet,” said Scott Giberson, a Pace science teacher and moderator of the Anglers Club who helped organize the tournament. “We greatly appreciate the incredible support we get throughout the year from sponsors, fishing guides, experts, friends, and family.”
