Miami Lakes Eye Care Center, also known as the Laservision Eye Care Center, marks 25 years of serving the Miami Lakes community this year. The center is a state of the art facility and was the original tenant of the Plaza Royal office building at 15600 N.W. 67 Avenue where they have been located for over two decades.
Co-owners of the facility, William Zambrano and Joseph Trentacoste, are leading ophthalmologists who have also served as faculty at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami for over 28 years instructing students on performing cataract surgery and laser refractive surgery.
The institute is the number one ranked program in the United States. Trentacoste and Zambrano have been regarded as top physicians by Super Doctors, an online publication that seeks to recognize the best physicians in the United States, and have spoken at numerous conferences across the globe. Research produced by the physicians has been published in several medical journals.
Trentacoste and Zambrano are joined by a talented staff including optometric physicians Maria Briceño and Adalberto Acuna, opticians Teresa Esteva and Ibeth Martinez, office manager Barbara Zambrano and the support staff that together create an office that has been frequented by Miami Lakes residents and foreign patients alike. Miami Lakes Eye Care Center has treated patients that have travelled from South America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.
Services offered at the center include examinations and procedures for adult, pediatric and geriatric eye care. The center also provides contact lens fitting, suture-less cataract surgery and LASEK to correct myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. The location is convenient for residents who wish to avoid the hassle of hospital care and can be treated on site for many procedures or across N.W. 67 avenue at the Miami Lakes Surgery Center.
Miami Lakes Eye Care Center is one of the few centers in Florida that offers Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) contact lenses, an FDA approved method of temporarily correcting vision in adults and children as young as six years old who qualify. It is a non-surgical option that eliminates the need for eye glasses or day-time contact lenses for improved vision and is the only approved method that aids in preventing worsening near-sightedness.
CRT lenses are designed to be worn when sleeping to reshape the cornea and improve vision without having to wear the lenses while awake. LASEK eye surgery is the only method to permanently eliminate vision problems though it can only be done once the patient is 18 years old. CRT contact lenses provide an alternative method until LASEK can be completed or as a standalone method.
Miami Lakes Eye Care Center also has a wide range of fashion frames and is a full-service optical center that has prescription eyewear available within the hour. Most insurances are accepted and financial plans are available. Emergency care is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
