Goleman High’s National Honor Society members support homeless students
Project UP-START, a Miami-Dade County Public School program that supports homeless students, received a $2,500 check from National Honor Society students at Barbara Goleman Senior High School in Miami Lakes.
The Goleman students and non-profit Giving Gators held a “color run” on Jan. 24, when kids tossed tinted powder at each other to raise money.
National Honor Society students also visited classrooms to raise awareness about peers with unstable housing, according to Giving Gators.
At the check presentation were, left to right: Daylin Garcia, Giving Gators founder; Barbara Goleman Senior High National Honor Society officers Sharon Ramirez; Anthony Carrero; Stephanie Flores; Joseph Mooney; Madison Creevay and Sabian Polanco; Debra Albo-Steiger, Miami-Dade County Public Schools director of Community Outreach, Project UP-START Program; Dr. Manuel Sanchez, principal and National Honor Society sponsors Linda Ogorek-Cushman and Ana Soto-Gonzalez.
