  The Miami Lakes Optimist Club will be holding registration for the 2015 Fall baseball and softball season from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on consecutive Saturdays, August 8, 15 and 22, at Miami Lakes Middle School, 6425 Miami Lakeway North. Bob Graham Education Center fifth-grader Flavia Nuñez earned first place in the writing component for this year’s Fairchild Challenge. Nuñez wrote a story on a seed. The Fairchild Challenge is a competition that Fairchild Botanical Gardens sponsors every year with participation from more than 200 schools. It is a multidisciplinary competition with an emphasis on environmental sciences.

 

Miami Lakes is showcasing the works of the students in the Town’s adult painting class. The paintings will be on display throughout the month of June inside Town Hall, 6601 Main Street, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
