Miami Lakes K-8 Center's team of coders, Samuel Borges and Daniel Simeon, competed on April 3 at the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair's Digi-Con Coding with Scratch Challenge. Their hard work paid off as Simeon tied for second place among a field of 20 competitors from schools across Dade County. His highly creative animation showcased his talent and skill as a coder. On April 9, Carrabba’s Italian Grill in northwest Miami-Dade, generously opened its doors to young aspiring chefs attending the Italian Language and Culture program at Lawton Chiles Middle School.
