Mater Lakes Academy announced that five graduates earned the AP Capstone Diploma, which it said helps students develop critical thinking, research, collaboration and presentation skills.
Five students earned scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar, AP Research and on 4 additional AP exams, the school said.
Students research topics included education; portrayals of motherhood and feminism in popular media; politics; religion; parenting styles and student achievement and sports and stressors.
The students and the colleges they are attending are: Naomi Quintero, attending Florida International University Honors; Michelle R. Deangelo, Florida International University Honors; Gabriela M. Garcia, University of Florida; Anelis J. Villalobos, Florida International University Honors and Mia A. Zamora, Florida State University.
Five students earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate by earning scores of 3 or higher: Samuel J. Alvarez, University of Central Florida; Leah N. Hernandez, University of Colorado; Teo Martinez, attending Mater Lakes Academy; Lizbeth Reyes, Florida International University and Carolina M. Tejera, Florida International University.
