Each year, the town’s Mayor’s Gala raises money to fund the Special Needs Advisory Board. On Feb. 17, Mayor Josh Dieguez presented a $43,025 check that represented net proceeds from the event. The Trelles Cottage also contributed $300 to the Board, which works to make the town a place for inclusion and to connect families to programs that will serve them.

Another major sponsor was UniVida Medical Centers and George Garcia, director of Construction, and St. Thomas University, whom Dieguez also recognized that night.  Shown in the photo, from left: Council members Angelo Cuadra Garcia and Steven Herzberg; Mayor Josh Dieguez; Kimberly Trelles of The Trelles Cottage and her sons Grayson and Gabriel Trelles; Councilman Ray Garcia; Special Needs Advisory Board Chair Vivian Levy; Vice Chair Madelin Santana; Members Jesenia Orellana; behind them from St. Thomas University, Craig Henderson, senior vice president for Strategy and Chief of Staff, and James Konschnik, asst. vice president of Philanthropy; Special Needs Advisory Board Member Tammy Hassan and Secretary Ethan Rivero; Councilman Alex Sanchez; Vice Mayor Bryan Morera and Councilman Juan Carlos Fernandez.
