The residents of Loch Ness are still remembering their friend and neighbor Sergio Campos.
Campos, who died at 72 in 2015, already had Loch Ness Drive co-named for him. Now a Little Free Library has been erected in his honor.
Located at Pocket Park 51 the library was paid for by the homeowners’ association for neighborhood use.
Campos served as president of the homeowner’s association for many years and was actively involved in his community.
Current HOA Vice President Adonis Sardinas wants to continue the kind of involvement that was so important to Campos.
“We’re building community,” Sardinas said.
It’s the 12th little free library to be installed in the town.
The boxes cost $800 to install and include a weatherproof box on a wooden pole. Residents may leave and take books.
Sardinas has already added books to the library to encourage neighbors to do the same.
He hopes this is the start of a trend in Loch Ness, and residents will want to add two more boxes to the neighborhood’s other pocket parks.
The Little Free Library at Pocket Park 51 will be dedicated at 10 a.m. on Sept. 26 and can be found along Sergio Campos Way.
