American High’s Valedictorian

     Janaysa Dorcin, 18, from North Miami Beach is a 12th grader at American Senior High School and is its valedictorian. 

     She is to attend Harvard University in the fall, her college and career advisor Martha Subias-Porro says.

     Janaysa is class president and studied in the Cambridge program. She is also enrolled at Miami Dade College, from which she hopes to obtain an associate degree.

     A member of the high school’s Law Academy, Janaysa is interning at a law firm, Subias-Porro says.

     She has also served as a policy fellow in Miami-Dade County school board member Luisa Santos’ office.

     She participated in Nazarene Youth Bible Quizzing; National Honor Society and played on the high school golf team, Subias-Porro said.
