American Legion presents 2nd Annual Community Health Fair at Ana G. Mendez University

      American Legion Post 144 hosted its 2nd Annual Community Health Fair on April 26 that drew about 145 people to the campus of Ana G. Mendez University in Miami Lakes.

     Twenty-two vendors from medical offices, Medicaid and Medicare experts and AARP had displays, said Pedro Fiallo, director of Public Relations for American Legion Post 144. 

     Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel performed blood pressure screenings. 

     Fiallo said the purpose of the fair is to help residents know what medical services are available in the region. 

      Dr. Genibert Perez-Puelles of Sierra Medical Center, Lupe Bruneman, an expert in Medicare, Medicaid and other senior social services and Rosa Barroso of The Therapy Labs all spoke at the fair. 

      It was a fun atmosphere, with music and free lunch provided by Sergio’s GO of Miami Lakes.

      Attendees gained valuable health care information and also won raffle prizes, including televisions and home appliances.  

      Exhibitors included First Origin Mortgage Lenders; CareVantage Medical Centers; Llanos Dental Group; Advocate Advisors; Dreams Medical Center; Sierra Medical Center; Saluda Y Vida Farmacia; Devoted Health Plans; WellCare Health Plans; Mount Sinai Medical Center and the Zonta Club of Miami Lakes.
