American wins third straight District 16-7A baseball title

The American High baseball team won the District 16-7A championship in dominate fashion beating Ronald Reagan, 12-2, and advancing the Patriots to the regionals and just three wins away from returning to the state tournament.

It was American’s third consecutive district championship.

This week, American faces South Broward in the regional quarterfinal.

Miami Springs edged Goleman, 6-5, to claim the 15-6A District championship. Despite the loss, Goleman will play in the regionals.

Mater Academy upset Belen, 1-0, to claim the 16-6A District championship and advance to the regional quarterfinal.

Monsignor Pace lost in the District 15-4A semifinal last week against Florida Christian.

In softball, American High defeated Hollywood Hills in the 7A regional quarterfinal to set up a showdown against St. Thomas Aquinas in the semifinal this week.
