Longtime local resident and former Pace student, Amy Diaz has always had a love for fashion. It was only a matter of time that she would open her own store, FH Fashion House, now located at 7307 Miami Lakes Dr in the Cypress Village Shopping Center.
As a teenager Diaz began working at a local retail store and over the course of eight years, worked her way up from sales associate to managing and buying for the store. She later became a buyer for an exclusive travel retailer group and oversaw luxury departments such as Ray Ban, Michael Kors, Prada, and Coach among others.
After spending time managing for others and earning her degree in marketing, Diaz decided to pursue a lifelong dream – to open her own boutique. When it came time to decide on a location, Diaz quickly thought of home.
“I’m familiar with the area, with the people and I love the community,” said Diaz. “The opportunity came up for this location and we thought it was perfect.”
With a location scouted and a long awaited eagerness, FH Fashion House was born and opened in May. Diaz quickly went to work cultivating unique and far-reaching style options for anyone who may step foot inside her store.
“I have learned while in this business that you can’t always shop for yourself,” said Diaz. “Of course, my style comes through in the selection offered, but I try to make the options things that a variety of people want. I often see mothers and daughters both leave with something they want.”
Diaz integrates customer feedback into her selections, and will soon be offering a swimsuit line at the suggestion of a client who was searching for a specific piece. Diaz will also be introducing handbags.
She considers the overall style of the store as a rustic, bohemian feel and “something trendy for the all-around woman.” Her selections are from Los Angeles and New York and also include items that are hard to find. Diaz has a selection of the coveted baby bling bowls and Little Shop & Co. mommy and me selections that can only be found at Nordstrom and now, within the town of Miami Lakes.
In addition to style options, Diaz highly regards the interpersonal satisfaction of her customers, noting that “styles change but the relationship built with a customer is most important,” said Diaz.
Upon entry, the boutique also reflects the look now synonymous with the current sleek and modern style of minimalism combined with a rustic charm, decor specifically selected to stand out from the cramped and close quarters often found in clothing stores. Both in hand-selected clothing styles and interior design, Diaz has set out to be set apart from other boutiques.
FH Fashion House is open Mondays from 1 to 8 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday hours are to be announced. For more information on FH Fashion House visit the store or follow on Instagram at @fhfashionhouse.
