Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board announced it is accepting applications for the Miami Lakes Future Leaders Scholarship presented by The Graham Companies.
Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who are residents of Miami Lakes.
All applications must be received by March 30 and will be forwarded to the Education Advisory Board for their selection of the two winners. The Mayor, Town Council and a Graham Companies representative will announce the winners at the Council meeting on Tuesday, May 5.
Interested seniors must submit a typed essay (750 words maximum) explaining in his/her own words how they aspire to make the world a better place. The student must demonstrate academic achievement and community service commitment, and identify future goals. The winners will have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to their school and community.
A cover sheet must accompany the essay along with an official sealed high school transcript, and three letters of recommendation from non-relatives, one of which must be from a teacher or school official.
