Three tributes for veterans are happening in October and November.
A Community Salute to Our Military, in Honor of Our Veterans, is being presented by American Legion Post 144 in Miami Lakes and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
It will be held Saturday, Oct. 24 at Amelia Earhart Park, at 401 East 65th St. in Hialeah.
Beginning at 10 a.m., packaged food and information from benefits providers will be given to veterans who drive through the park.
Drivers should display military or retirement ID on the dashboard. Motorcyclists must wear masks.

The Town of Miami Lakes’ 41st Annual Veterans Day Parade will be held Nov. 8.
The town is accepting nominations for a grand marshal for the event that also has Miami Lakes AutoMall as a sponsor.
Nomination forms may be found online and are due Oct. 21.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s parade will follow a longer route to allow spectators to distance themselves.

On Nov. 10, U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Miami, is tentatively scheduled to hold a virtual Congressional Veteran Commendation ceremony for veterans who live in Florida’s 25th
The ceremony recognizes wartime sacrifices and peacetime community involvement, Diaz-Balart’s office said.
Submit nominations by Oct. 30. Participants may also be interviewed for the Veterans History Project at the Library of Congress.
